Backing Up and Restoring Parameters
The 20 Minutes That Saves You a Week

Why this matters more than people think: parameters are the machine's entire personality — travel limits, axis behavior, tool life logic, comp settings, all of it. A control failure, a bad battery, or a botched update can wipe them out, and a machine with no parameters is a very expensive paperweight until someone rebuilds them from scratch.

How To Back Them Up
1. Insert a CF card or connect via the machine's memory card slot
2. Navigate to SYSTEM → PARAMETER, or the all-IO screen depending on control
3. Select PUNCH (Fanuc's term for "output/save") and direct it to the memory device
4. Label the file clearly with the machine name and date
How To Restore Them
1. Set PWE to 1 first (see OP10) — nothing writes until you unlock it
2. Navigate back to the same parameter I/O screen
3. Select READ, point it at your saved file, and load it in
4. Set PWE back to 0 and power-cycle the control
The Habit That Actually Matters

Back up parameters before any major service call, control battery swap, or firmware update — not after something's already gone wrong. Twenty minutes now versus a full day rebuilding blind later.
